Kami De Chukwu and Joey Purp - "Still A Live"

1.

Another week, another strong release from Chicago youngster Kami de Chukwu. For “Still A Live,” de Chukwu assembled a straightforward, effective recipe: grab a raucous rock beat from producers GregKTD and Thelonious Martin, throw in SAVEMONEY crew member Joey Purp, and then rap like the world’s about to end. De Chukwu (who hops on the track w/ a slight Doom inflection) and Purp (who sounds like he has a little Breezly Brewin in him…which is doubtful, but not impossible) trade increasingly short verses in a frantic construction that builds to the duo alternating every two bars as the track fades to black. It’s the sound of dedication to craft and rapping as a fun exercise in and of itself.
