After three years of experiments and side-projects, Animal Collective have returned with a solid example of the music that has gained them so many fans over years of bending musical boundaries to breaking point. With their latest offering, the Baltimore quartet stay true to their eyebrow-raising approach to psychedelic pop with vocals that run, stumble and bounce over two wildly undulating and layered tracks. In “Honeycomb” the chaotic instrumentation threatens to drown out the vocals, while “Gotham” dials down the exploratory excitement of the backing music to allow the vocals more space to shine.

The two songs, which will likely be on a forthcoming full-length, will be released as a single on June 26 through Domino records – listen to both below.
