Hot on the heels of “Man on Fire,” a new track from Edward Sharpe & The Magnetic Zeros’ hotly anticipated sophomore release hit the web today. More Jade than Alexander, “That’s What’s Up” is a faster, catchier track from the new record than what we’ve heard so far. However, it solidifies the expectations that this album may delve deeper into their hippie, ramshackle-folk roots than some of the poppier cuts from 40 Day Dream. This still proves they’ve got some chops in the hook-writing department and the earnestness that made them such a likable crew, but it’s definitely less concerned with the effervescence that characterized their biggest hits.
