2:54 are two British sisters who count The xx and Wild Beasts amongst their fans, and whilst the three bands by no means sound the same, they all evoke a certain sense of longing with their dreamy melodies and often direct, personal lyrics. In “You’re Early” the gentle vocals are set against jagged guitars and pounding drums as the sister’s plead “I just want to be close”. The single is available to purchase from iTunes now, and will be released as a 7″ on April 9th, backed by a remix from Wild Beasts, which you can also hear below.The remix is less aggressive, but hauntingly atmospheric, as the walls of guitar are replaced by ghostly wails, the percussion reduced to a deathly rattle, and Wild Beast’s singer Hayden Thorpe takes on some of the vocal duties, with the result sounding like some sort of graveyard duet.
