This has been a long time coming. Ever since we first heard them with the impossible-not-to-love “Now You’re Mine,” we’ve been championing Shadows On Stars as an important band to keep an eye on, even naming them as one of the few acts we want to see blow up in 2012. Here we are in 2012 and SOS has taken a necessary step in the process of blowing up. This is their debut album.

The 13-track project has an instantly graspable indie pop sensibility, but there’s also this unavoidable punk-ish, new wave-ish element that keeps things sharp and interesting. Shadows On Stars know how to craft a really solid pop song, but they also know how to loosen up the screws a bit. It makes for what might be the best free album you’ll get all year.

Download the whole thing below, and if you’re short on time, check out “Now You’re Mine,” “Out Of My Head,” and “Sweat Pant Bandits.”
