Grinderman is my favorite iteration of Nick Cave (the others being with The Bad Seeds, scoring films and as an author) as he allows his dark, often twisted mind to roam freely, and sounds as if he is having a hell of a lot of fun. Grinderman 2 was an album of gritty, stomping rock and roll and somebody, somewhere decided a number of the tracks could benefit from the loving care and attention of someone other than their maker. This 12 track remix album features contributions from a number of big names including UNKLE, Andrew Weatherhall, Josh Homme, and Nick Zinner of the Yeah Yeah Yeahs and will be released next Monday (March 26th). Most likely of interest for those who know the original tracks, this is nonetheless a good introduction to the garage rock stylings and lyrical flourishes of Grinderman.
