It’s true that too much of a good thing can be bad. Take synths, for example. When a song is flooded with synths, it may reflect a lack of inspiration and ultimately mislead one into thinking that the artist is trying too hard to connect the long-gone past with the present. But there are some bands who do it right.
Look at Wildcat! Wildcat!. The three-piece electro-indie group based out of L.A. seems to understand the fine line between synth overdose and mastering of electro/indie sensibility. Their most recent release, “Mr. Quiche,” stands testament to their talent in blending together synths, percussion, and lush vocals for a rich, luxurious sound. Really, though, what spells luxury more than the use of not just one, but two exclamation marks?
