It’s never fun to share news like this. While we’re by no means breaking the story, the impact that Whitney Houston had on the art of music is undeniable, and as such her passing warrants our attention. The New Jersey born songstress experienced epic highs and devastating lows over her 35 years in the public eye, and although her latter ones were the least bright, it’s the more impressive and accomplished earlier times that we should focus on tonight in light of her death. Houston amassed over 415 career awards and sold over 170 million albums, singles and videos worldwide. She was a vocal powerhouse and her influence on the industry will be felt for decades to come.

Rest In Peace, Whitney. August 9, 1963 – February 11, 2012.
