We saw the trailer that came along with Sleigh Bells’ announcement of a new album, and now the noise-pop duo makes it official with more details, including a tour of Florida with Diplo. Also, they call the upcoming album “the sonic equivalent of a beautiful shotgun to the head,” which automatically bumps it to one of the most anticipated albums of next year. From Mom & Pop Music:
Sleigh Bells will release their sophomore album, Reign of Terror, on February 14th, 2012. Yes, Valentine’s Day. Produced by guitarist Derek Miller, and written by Miller and singer Alexis Krauss, Reign of Terror is the follow up to 2010’s earth-shattering, riff-spewing Treats.
Prior to the album’s release, Sleigh Bells will embark on a full tour of Florida (where Derek grew up) with fellow Floridian Diplo and Brooklyn white-metalurgists Liturgy. Tickets are now available at http://reignofterror.tv.
Engineered by Shane Stoneback, who helped to record Treats, songs on Reign of Terror are as crushing and authoritative as their title suggests; they’re effortlessly robust and heavier than any of the band’s previous output, but more melodic as well (think…the sonic equivalent of a beautiful shotgun to the head).
