Wise Blood - "Loud Mouths"

Well this is some undeniably weird shit, combining elements of gospel and blues with modern production techniques, and resulting in what The Weeknd would sound like if he were a devil-child, all packed into an all too short 2 minutes and 26 seconds. The track was written, produced and sung all by Chris Laufman aka Wise Blood, and on the strengths of “Loud Mouths” alone I’d say this guy has creativity in abundance, not to mention a haunting, pained delivery.

On top of great music, everyone loves a good back story, and Chris used to work in a cemetery and had a bad break-up before recording the EP that this track is from, saying:

We buried kids sometimes, in a part of the cemetery we called BabyLand. Before I started [making music], I felt bad for myself because I got out of a long-term relationship, but then I realised that this dead kid was just nine years old. It helped me embrace life, even the terrible shit.”

If that all sounds a bit weird for you, just give this one a listen, and hit up the comments section with your reactions. Brilliance, madness, or a bit of both?
