Youth Lagoon came out of nowhere (actually, out of Idaho, as indicated by the tattoo on Trevor’s arm) with one of the year’s best albums. The bedroom pop stylings of The Year In Hibernation are commonplace in 2011, but Trevor Powers shines thanks to his knack for simple melodies and his ability to slowly draw you in with a gentle intimacy that always seems to abruptly pop into a beat worthy of a head bob.
