The title of this post almost sounds like something placed online as a trap for unsuspecting hipsters, with its overly hype-grabbing combination of underground superstar artists. What really upsets me is that I was definitely one of the people that this collaboration was destined to excite.
SBTRKT and Shabazz Palaces are two musical entities shrouded in mystery that happened to produced two of my favorite albums of the summer. In fact, outside of Watch The Throne, I would say that SBTRKT and Black Up actually were my favorite albums released this summer. This collaboration, though unofficial, is a kind of match made in heaven combining two extremely forward thinking artists, electronic music, and rapping. This is almost automatically my shit.
