Matt Duncan - "Summer Song" & "I Want The Night To Stay"

1.

When I got home today, I quickly took my pants off and lied down on the couch, aiming to relax for a little while before making the first moves of weekend. That’s the last thing I remember, and now it’s 11pm and I’m not entirely sure what happened. Common sense says I accidentally fell asleep, but I suspect I was tranq’ed, possibly via dart or airborn gas. Not sure, but I feel sluggish, and I’m pretty fucking certain that I had some Orangina in the fridge. But there is no Orangina, and I hate the world for this.

The only thing to do now is wake my ass up and enjoy the vintage sounds of Matt Duncan. This guy’s got a great sense of melody and composition. Most of the time when you hear “vintage” music it comes with a current and usually hipster twist. These Matt Duncan songs feel honest, like they could have come directly from past decades, uncomplicated by subtle modern injections and living only to prove themselves as standalone pieces.

Neither of these tracks made it to an album, but you can check out Matt’s excellent Beacon EP here. Alright, gonna go listen while I board my windows. No, not for the hurricane. I board my windows every Friday night.
