Bjorn, from Swedish trio Peter, Bjorn and John has taken White Denim‘s “Drug” for a spin. Different songs about drugs, just like different drugs themselves, can create a range of feelings and effects ranging from tensed up and energetic to hazy and euphoric. But the thing about drug songs is that they have to make you feel something. If a song about drugs doesn’t create some kind of shift in the way you’re feeling, it’s much like that first (and hopefully last) time you realized you bought a bag of oregano. A waste.

As far as drug songs go, Bjorn does this one justice, layering a heavy buzzing with echoing vocals, an onslaught of electronic interjections and a slowly spinning bass line. Slightly disorienting, but it feels nice.
