Today is my mom’s birthday, so this one is for her.
For the longest time, I didn’t tell my mom that I had my own blog. I told her I wrote music reviews but never really got into the details, because I really didn’t want her reading my Lykke Li posts. (Mom: don’t click on that link. Inappropriate stuff.) I’m still not entirely sure how she found out about Pigeons and Planes.
A few days ago I asked my mom what she wanted for her birthday. She replied, “A Pigeons and Planes shirt.” I am all out of shirts, but this made me smile.
I hate to get too corny, but I figured if 2Pac and Kanye can talk about their moms, I can talk about mine. My mom is the most amazing person I know. She is kind, loving, and full of life. She has always been the standard for what I consider a good person and she has always been there for me, even when I was a little punk who liked to set fires, skip school, steal things, and cheat on my math tests.
My mom always asks me to send her something I’ve written. I say “Okay,” but I never have, so for her birthday I decided to write a post for her. I’m going to link her to this post, so feel free to hit the comments section and wish her a happy birthday, and please don’t say anything foul. She hates when I say “fuck.” Sorry Mom. Love you.

I have never been a good dancer. The funny thing is that I didn’t realize this until middle school, because up until then I did all my dancing at the house. I remember being a little kid obsessed with Michael Jackson. I’d put on Dangerous and dance like a little spaz in the living room and tell you to rate my moves on a scale of 1-10. Being the good mother that you were, you’d always give me high marks, leading me to think I was some kind of dancing prodigy. Throughout my childhood, I truly believed that my kicks, spins, and somersaults made me one of the best dancers in the world.
