Euro Session Vol. 1

1.

Once I made a comment on here about getting  a European correspondent. Guess what? Got one. Mark is from Wales, currently living in London, and his taste in music is as diverse as mine. He’s played in bands, done work as a DJ, and earned a degree in Creative Sound and Music. His love for music is immense. He’ll be putting together a post every couple weeks or so to shine some light on some European music that we Americans probably won’t hear until it’s already well known overseas. When it comes to music, we always seem to get Europe’s sloppy seconds. I’m just learning about Eliza Doolittle now, but apparently she’s already a big deal in the UK. Shit, I watched her video for “Skinny Genes” today for the first time before realizing it already has almost 2 million views. So in an attempt to stay ahead of the curve, let’s get into the first volume of P&P Euro Post.

– Confusion

Hit the jump to dive into Mark’s picks for Euro Session Vol. 1

So, first off I have to thank Confusion, who after some persuasion finally cracked and gave me the chance to start this new feature on his (fantastic) site. Hopefully this will introduce you to some artists that are big (or set to be big) in Europe that you might not hear about otherwise. (That’s the idea anyway!).

Claire Maguire – Ain’t Nobody (Breakage Remix)

Claire Maguire has gone from Myspace to hanging out with Jay-z by way of a couple of years of label ‘development’. There’s no doubting her voice though and she looks like one to watch for next year. Her lates single has gotten the remix treatment from UK Drum’n’Bass/Dubstep producer Breakage. Already dubbed the biggest remix of the year by Zane Lowe this is looking like it could do for Claire Maguire what Skream did for La Roux last year. There’s not a whole lot going on here but the vocals and THAT bassline are all you need. Oh, and the video’s pretty cool too!
