Here’s the newest from SomeWhere Else. You should know these guys. These are guys you should know. Check them out here. You can stream their whole album Master Basement at the SomeWhere Else website, or you can just wait as they release a track every Monday in album order. Here’s “Grease”. I’m loving everything they put out.
SomeWhere Else is not easy to place or bundle with other artists, and for a hip-hop act, I think that’s an extremely positive thing. You clearly can’t place them in the barrel full of mainstream rappers, but they don’t really fit in with the underground/backpack rappers either. Their sound is heavier, a little darker, and significantly less poppy than college campus heroes like Chiddy Bang and Rich Kid Soundsystem. It’s safe to say that these guys are doing their own thing, and I’m really glad to have them.
