So, take this in. Think about it for a second. Mayer Hawthorne, the white soulful singer on Stones Throw usually seen in oversized glasses and suits, covered Tony Bennett’s “I Left My Heart In San Francisco”. So far, so good. Seems like it would work.
Now throw a skateboard video into the mix. Nerdy white soul singer? Tony Bennett? Suits? And a skateboard video? It sounds as awkward as a Joe Budden/Bette Midler collaboration. But the way it’s shot, the slow motion, the smooth sounds. It works. It’s probably the most relaxing skateboard video I’ve ever seen.
