Gil Scott-Heron - "New York Is Killing Me"

1.

After hearing way too many good things about Gil Scott-Heron’s latest album I’m New Here, I finally got it. All the praise is well-deserved. The soulful album is a mix of spoken word, bluesy roots, and sparse electronic production that gives it a deliciously unique sound. Even the spoken word pieces are fun to listen to because Gil’s cadence is so powerful and he makes you feel like you’re listening to a wise old soul, but it’s the songs like “New York Is Killing Me”, “I’ll Take Care Of You”, and “Me and the Devil” that really stand out. Check out “New York Is Killing Me” below.
