New Music Listening Binge

About to go on a new music listening binge. Keep reading if you want to join me. I’m just gonna venture up and down the alleys of the internets, listen to what catches my attention, and tell you what I think of it as I’m listening.

Memory Tapes – Plain Material

This one caught my attention because Stereogum called it “energized bedroom pop”. I liked the sound of that. The clickity drums don’t work for me, and those distant, reverberated vocals make it hard for me to follow the vocals. I don’t know. Cool melody, I like the idea of the song, but I don’t think I’ll go back to it. Ooh, and then 2:15 in, the song decides to grow some balls and make a move.

Young Buffalo – It’s In The Linens

IGIF usually has great taste in music, so I had to check out this Young Buffalo band that they’ve been hyping up. This song is just a demo, but it definitely provides a glimpse of awesome potential. Reminds me of a modernized, indie rock version of Rusted Root. Definitely has that live sounding element.

Radiohead vs Kanye West – Testify (Xaphoon Jones Remix)

Pretty Much Amazing is cosigning the upcoming Xaphoon Jones mixtape (Chiddy Bang producer). This one is butter. It’s fucking Kanye West and Radiohead, and it’s done well. Enough said.

Themselves & Why? – Canada

This one was over at Prefix. Honestly, I dislike everyone involved in this track. Especially Doseone. That being said, it’s surprisingly entertaining. Good production, although it’s hard to stomach the lyrics “You show your pinkest parts in my absence.”

Planned on listening to more, but 4 seems good for now.
