Last two I’m gonna post from The Hazards of Love, out March 24th. The Hazards of Love is kind of a weird, Decemberists style folk/rock opera. It was originally intended for the stage as a play about a girl named Margaret, her lover William, a spooky forest queen, and a cold blooded rake. It is based on a tragic Japanese folk tale. The Decemberists have had the old-language storytelling perfected since day one, so this album, as weird as it may seem, isn’t a stretch for them. It works. The band will be performing the album in it’s entirety during the ‘spring tour’ from May 19 – June 10 (isn’t that summer?). Definitely check it out.
