Groove Armada - At The River

I already posted this song once on this blog, but that was in P&P’s infancy, when I’m sure no one was paying attention. This is one of my all time favorite songs. I don’t really know why, but it just tugs at something deep inside of me every time I hear it. It seems less like a song and more like a memory or an emotion. I hope everyone has a few songs like that in their life. I’m not even a big Groove Armada fan in general. There’s just something about this song.

Anyway, today I heard the original song that is sampled in this. It’s Patti Page’s “Old Cape Cod” recorded in 1957. Good song, but it really just reminded me how much I love “At The River”, so I’m going to post it again. It goes through a lot of changes and really builds on itself so if you want to give it a fair chance, listen to it once all the way through. Maybe it will do something for you as well. Just chill for six and a half minutes and give it a listen.
