Madlib and J Dilla(RIP) are two of the best hip hop producers ever, in my opinion. I don’t get why more Dillaheads don’t talk about this album. The two crate-diggers put out Champion Sound together under the name Jaylib, and they take turns on production and vocals. None of that clean, polished sound, but plenty of rawness, crisp drums and samples of music that makes you wonder where the fuck these guys got their records. I don’t know many people that dig the helium-sucking Quasimoto voice as much as I do on “React”, but you can’t say that beat isn’t nice. Good choice on the De La Soul sample in the chorus.
