As Lil Baby gears up to drop his new album It’s Only Me, the Atlanta rap star returned to Hot 97 with Funk Flex to once again drop a fiery freestyle, this time tackling a Wheezy instrumental.

“She never speak to me when we in public but somehow we always make eye contact,” Baby raps. “Change my number delete my contact, tell Universal reroute my check. I’m on some other shit, be right back.”

This serves as the third time Lil Baby has stepped in front of Funk Flex’s microphone, the last time being in March of 2020 to promote his four times-platinum blockbuster My Turn.

Lil Baby’s highly anticipated new album It’s Only Me drops on Friday, and comes after Baby teased the project all summer and formally announced it on Sep. 2. The Quality Control rapper returned with a new single called “Detox,” and he also revealed the release date and cover art for the My Turn follow-up – which in March actually became the longest-running album to stay inside the Top 10 of Billboard‘s Top R&B/Hip-Hop Albums chart.

The 4PF boss offered more details on Oct. 3, confirming It’s Only Me will have 23 tracks and will include features from seven of his peers. On Tuesday, he confirmed those features to be Nardo Wick, Young Thug, Fridayy, Future, Rylo Rodriguez, Jeremih, EST Gee and Pooh Shiesty.

The new album caps off what’s been an already massive summer for the Staying Alive” star, who wrapped up his lengthy One Of Them Ones Tour with Chris Brown on Aug. 27. The very next day Lil Baby won the Best Hip-Hop Award at the MTV VMA’s for his “Do We Have A Problem?” collab with Nicki Minaj. Amazon Prime also released the Lil Baby documentary Untrapped on Aug. 26, showcasing Baby’s explosive rise into the superstar he is today.

“If even one person is inspired to think their life can change, or be close to what they dream of, then this documentary was worth making,” Baby said of the doc in a statement. “I just want to share my story in the hope that it helps others get to their own best story.”
