Freddie Gibbs is poking fun at Joe Rogan’s N-word scandal.
Back in February, Rogan received widespread backlash over a video montage in which he repeatedly used the racial slur on his eponymous podcast. While many called on Spotify to de-platform the comedian/UFC commentator, other notable figures such as Gibbs came to Rogan’s defense and insisted he isn’t racist.
Gibbs touched on the controversy during a recent appearance on the Kill Tony Show, a broadcasted event that gives comedians a chance to showcase stand-up skills in front of an audience. About halfway through the episode, Freddie—who joined Rogan on the panel—was given a minute to take the mic and try his hand at live comedy.
“The world is changing, shit. Joe Rogan said ‘n***a’ and shit,” Gibbs said.
“It’s been years,” Rogan fired back. “Let it go.”
“Nah, n***a that wasn’t years. That was days,” Gibbs jokingly responded. “He said every n***a in Philly look like a monkey. Joe, let me tell you something, n***a. You lucky I got family in Philadelphia, because they was coming there to fuck you up, man. I said, listen, I held all n***as back on behalf of Joe. Y’all give me a round of applause, n***a.”
The Alfredo artist continued. “I know [Rogan] got Dave Chappelle and shit, but you know, Dave Chappelle ain’t in the motherfuckin’ streets, n***a. His wife’s Asian…Dave Chappelle ain’t no gangsta like me.”
Rogan took the roasting well, and said he appreciates Gibbs for having his back. “I know, white boy. You better appreciate it,” Freddie responded. “We gotta talk. We gotta work something out for that, n***a. You got the n***a approval from the realest n***a ever. … Joe Rogan about to give n***as reparations.”

Gibbs also spoke about Rogan in an interview with Vulture.
“I feel like n**gas didn’t give me enough motherfucking credit for going on there and spanking Joe Rogan and telling him he can’t say n**ga,” Gibbs said about his recent appearance on The Joe Rogan Experience. “People take that shit for granted. I stood up on behalf of Black people. They’re going to write that shit in the history books!”
He went on to call Rogan “a real dude” when asked if the podcaster will actually donate to the organizations they spoke about during their chat.
“He’s going to do it,” he said. “I got some projects he’s going to be a part of — a basketball initiative, some art-gallery opportunities. Joe ain’t just doing this because I told him to. He really wants to redeem himself and do some good stuff in the community. And that’s the point because we could cancel Joe Rogan, but then what the fuck use would we have for him? We have to have conversations and move forward with shit.”
Rogan, 54, apologized for his past use of the N-word in an Instagram video posted in February, saying the video clips were filmed 12 years ago and taken out of context.
“I know that to most people, there’s no context where a white person is ever allowed to say that word, never mind publicly on a podcast, and I agree with that now. I haven’t said it in years. But for a long time, when I would bring that word up, like if it would come up in conversation, instead of saying ‘the N-word,’ I would just say the word...It’s not my word to use,” he said. “I’m well aware of that now, but for years I used it in that manner.”
