Back in April, Rmarni—an up-and-coming singer/songwriter from Dudley—set fire to the R&B realm with her viral single, “So High”.

Not one to rush her creative process, the young talent is back with her much-anticipated follow-up in “Back & Forth”. Set to a beat equally weighted in ‘90s R&B flavour and modern Afrobeats flair, producer C95 envelops “Back & Forth” with sultry, stripped-back energy, enabling Rmarni to take centre stage and display her soulful and alluring vocals.

With the title of the track paying homage to Aaliyah’s song of the same name, it would only be right for the visuals to emulate the same party-centric vibes of the original. Directed by Nixx, the video sees the Midlands native sit fireside in a tropical forest, and celebrate life with her crew.

“This video was so much fun,” she tells Complex. “With everything we’ve all gone through this last year, we wanted to have fun with this one and bring a real party vibe to it. The concept behind the video was all about bringing that Millennial, feel-good vibe back. We had a lot of different setups, which were all really fun to shoot—big thank you to the director, Nixx, and her team. The song is easily relatable; every girl or guy has made a call to their significant other at 3am. ‘Back & Forth’ paints that picture of what that conversation might be. It was great to step things up from my last video and work with dancers; it’s a new experience, and I feel like there’s so much more to come.”

Whilst Rmarni heads back to the studio and finishes up her debut EP, peep the “Back & Forth” visuals exclusively above and be sure to add the song to your playlists.
