The multi-platinum producer and Pro Era backbone Powers Pleasant announced his return today with a new two-minute track titled “Evil Twin,” featuring Denzel Curry and ZillaKami.

The intense new song is Powers’ first since his 2019 solo EP Life Is Beautiful, containing the hit single “Pull Up” featuring ASAP Ferg and Joey Badass, which raked in over 70 million streams. The EP also included another collab between Powers, Denzel Curry, and Zillakami called “Please Forgive,” which sounds relatively tame compared to the bass-heavy beat of “Evil Twin.” Both MCs on the song spit emphatically in their signature gruff tones, while at every moment they threaten to be swallowed by Powers' brutal and glitchy production.

The Pro Era co-founder spoke on his group’s unique style back in 2019 with Uproxx. “We are here to stay and there’s no box,” he said of the New York rap collective. “We are gonna do whatever the fuck we want. I hate the stigma that New York rap has to sound a certain way and it’s always the old OGs saying that. Anything that doesn’t evolve is gonna die. New York is evolving. We aren’t gonna sound the same way it has traditionally. Of course, it’s gonna have that ego, cockiness, and aggression because we are from New York and that’s just natural. We’re gonna make music the way we want to.
