After emerging from prison last year, Potter Payper hit the ground sprinting.

First came the 20/20 Vision EP and then came Training Day 3—a triumphant conclusion to the long-running trilogy that smashed its way to the Top 3 in the UK Album Charts. It may have come at the start of a new period of renewed creativity and success, but really it was shutting the door on what came before. The real first chapter was opened today with the release of Potter’s new mixtape, Thanks For Waiting.

An unusually feature-heavy project from Potter, whose projects often only include one, two or sometimes no features at all, he’s described the tape as a sort of stopgap in interviews, designed to tide fans over for a debut album slated to come out early next year via his freshly-inked deal with 0207 Def Jam. Despite that, it’s already proving a hit with fans and it’s already spawned some heavy-hitting singles.

We’d already heard a couple of the singles—“Catch Up” with M Huncho and “Nothing’s Free” with Suspect—and there are plenty more big-name collaborations to go with. Filling out the rest of the ranks are Unknown T, Digga D, Rimzee, NSG, Tiggs Da Author, KO, Billy Billions, Haile, Smurke, and Im CP.

To top it all off, “Johnny On The Spot” also get some visuals courtesy of director Kevin Hudson. A treatise on the state of gangster rap and its commodification, the new video illustrates that with glamourised scenes of Potter getting down to the grittier side of street life, from crime scenes to gravesides, before reclining with a glass of bubbly in a plush office.

As we reap the rewards of this intense productivity, press play on the new video above and then dive into Thanks For Waiting below.
