In an appearance on Andrew Santino’s Whiskey Ginger podcast, Logic revealed his estranged father asked him for $1 million when they reunited.

“Last time when I was talking to my dad, he asked me for a million dollars,” said Logic at around the 6:20 point of the podcast, as seen above. “Fuck no, I didn’t give it to him. He said, ‘I want a million dollars.’ I said, ‘For what?’ He said, ‘For my band so that we can buy a house and make music in it.’ I’m like, ‘What?’ So I ask him once we get back together: ‘Please don’t ask me for money. Can we just fucking throw catch or some shit?’ And he’s like, ‘Alright! Alright.’”

Logic has a rather complicated relationship with his father, who was absent when he was growing up. When his dad asked him for the money, it caused something of a rift between them again, but he then had another financial request when they met up again later down the line. “This MF flies in, he’s not there for six hours and he’s like, ‘I need you to buy me a truck.’ Immediately!” he continued. “And then that goes into, ‘I need you to pay all my bills.’ And then I’m like, ‘Dad, no.’”

He said that one time he confronted his dad when he asked him for money, and asked him why he kept asking for funds. He responded “I don’t know,” which Logic suggested was “the best” answer he got from him. Logic said they’re actually working on an album together because they’ve waited to make music together for a while. “We’re working on an album right now,” he shared. “That way I can educate him, really teach him about the music business, Black ownership, publishing.”

Logic added that half of the money from the proceeds of the project will go to a trust for his half-brother, whose mother tragically died of a heroin overdose. “The other 50 percent of the money is going to go to my dad, he can do whatever he wants,” he shared. “Even though I don’t owe him shit, I’m gonna cut him a nice check as a thank you for his services. … We’ve already got like five records [and] they’re amazing. … My dad’s a crazy guy.”
