On Monday, Kendrick Lamar officially announced his new album is finally coming next month, and understandably his fans—and even some peers—are already freaking out.

In a low-key tweet shared on Monday, Kendrick responded to a fan who joked that he “is officially retired.” The link contained takes users to his website, which now features a press release confirming his Mr. Morale & the Big Steppers album is arriving May 13.

The announcement reads that it comes from Oklama and “through his company pgLang.” As the release confirms, “all factual information for this release will come directly from this source only.”

The Twitter user who prompted Kendrick’s response was particularly shocked.

“I brought Kendrick Lamar out of retirement,” he wrote.

Kendrick’s fans have been waiting for a new project for years. His last studio album, DAMN., released back in 2017. He hasn’t exactly been silent since then, however, as he extensively contributed to the Black Panther soundtrack in 2018 and showed up for several memorable features on Baby Keem’s The Melodic Blue last year. For “Family Ties,” he and Keem took home the Grammy for Best Rap Performance last month.
