Grimes sure knows how to get our attention.
Over the weekend, the singer was photographed reading Karl Marx’s The Communist Manifesto. The images quickly went viral, at which point Grimes admitted that she was purposely trying to troll the paparazzi.
“[P]aparazzi followed me 2 a shoot so I tried 2 think what I could do that would yield the most onion-ish possible headline and it worked haha,” she tweeted alongside screenshots of a New York Post article about the photos.
Grimes also addressed the photo on Instagram, and elaborated on her relationship with Elon Musk, which reportedly ended earlier this month.
“Full disclosure I’m still living with e and I am not a communist (although there are some very smart ideas in this book -but personally I’m more interested in a radical decentralized ubi that I think could potentially be achieved thru crypto and gaming but I haven’t ironed that idea out enough yet to explain it Regardless my opinions on politics are difficult to describe because the political systems that inspire me the most have not yet been implemented),” she wrote.
Grimes added that “if paparazzi keep chasing me perhaps I will try to think of more ways to meme – suggestions welcome!”
For now, Grimes’ troll has received full memefication by people online, who’ve been replacing the book with other literary achievements like a Cheesecake Factory menu, Diary of a Wimpy Kid, Everyone Poops, Fifty Shades of Gray, and even a Minecraft users guide.
