Fat Joe and Ja Rule are about to bring out the classics at the latest Verzuz battle tonight.
Following big-name faceoffs like Jeezy vs. Gucci Mane, Brandy vs. Monica, Snoop Dogg vs. DMX, and the most-recent New York battle between Dipset and The LOX, Joe and Ja have a lot to live up to.
Both NY giants have an undeniable arsenal of hits. With songs like “Always on Time,” “Mesmerize,” “What’s Luv,” “All the Way Up,” and “Put It on Me,” and after the hype of the LOX/Dipset match-up, it’s looking like it’ll be a big one. Guests are also expected to hit the stage throughout the night.
The battle is a long time coming, as they both expressed interest in duking it out with 50 Cent earlier in the year. Fat Joe proposed doing so in a February interview with The Morning Hustle, while Ja Rule shared that he and 50 “would make the most sense.” While it’s only been rumored that 50 may show for Joe’s go-ahead, Ja admitted he isn’t scared to put the work on both of them.
“I will say, 50 had his shot,” Ja previously told TMZ. “I wanted him in the dog house first. He didn’t want to come to the dog house. So me and Crack are going to represent for the city and do it right and put on a beautiful, beautiful show. But you know, me and Crack are both competitors. It’s going to be a fight, a great show for people.”
The event—which has been promoted through a few Instagram skits where they exchange friendly shots—kicks off at 9 p.m. ET at the Hulu Theater at Madison Square Garden, with plenty of ways to check it out for those not in attendance in NYC.
