In many ways, Meek Mill and 6ix9ine couldn’t be more different. Meek is respected in rap and in the streets. 6ix9ine, meanwhile, is a rainbow-haired troll. Yet, somehow, someway, they found themselves screaming at each other outside of a nightclub recently, with 6ix9ine calling Meek a “rat.”

This altercation was the latest chapter in an ongoing beef that stretches back to 2018. For a while anyway, the conflict was mostly one-sided. Meek hasn’t vibed with 6ix9ine’s actions since the Brooklyn rapper got locked up and famously decided to tell on his associates, and he’s let his feelings be known, loud and clear. One thing that’s surprising to know, though, is that at one point, Meek even tried to offer 6ix9ine some advice.

Something tells us that this beef is far from over. To get you up to speed, here’s a breakdown of the two rappers’ feud, explaining where it came from and how it evolved into what it is today.

During an interview with Power 106 after 6ix9ine got locked up, Meek spoke on his situation, explaining that he initially wanted to advise the rapper about the way that he moved. “I used to always want to tell that kid, ‘You give out that certain kind of energy,” Meek said. “You give out that energy, and that energy actually comes back.”

“Having 50 people around you and two people got a job, it means nothing,” he continued. “It can get you in a lot of trouble that everybody don’t make it out [of]. Not saying that he won’t make it out of his situation, but it could get you in a lot of trouble that it’s hard to make it out [of].”

During an Instagram Live session right before the release of his Nicki Minaj collaboration “Trollz,” 6ix9ine presented a piece of paper to his viewers with a list of rappers’ names that he believed to be snitches. And guess who was at the top of the list? “I’m gonna start off with Meek, right?” said 6ix9ine. “And look, you need this clout. I’m not clout-chasing because I got more followers than you, I’m more popping than you. You know this. I’mma show you something real quick.” After this, he mentioned Roc Nation CEO Desiree Perez, who cooperated with the U.S. Attorney’s Office following an arrest for conspiracy with intent to distribute narcotics. “You see Meek Mill right here with Desiree Perez,” he continued. “She is part of their prison reform with Jay-Z at Roc Nation. She is a executive at Roc Nation, but then you go saying we don’t fuck with rats. Your executive is a rat.”

According to reports, 6ix9ine and Meek nearly came to blows in a parking garage on Valentine’s Day weekend. Both rappers posted videos of the altercation that saw security attempting to keep a charging 6ix9ine away from Meek, who remained relatively calm throughout the situation. In 6ix9ine’s video that he posted on Twitter, he repeatedly calls Meek a “pussy” while pointing out the fact that he has security guarding him that he alleges are police. In Meek’s video, someone repeatedly calls 6ix9ine a bitch while the rapper is busy recording his own video.

After the footage got out, Meek hopped on Twitter to explain his side of the story. “The feds sent him to take me out,” he wrote. “He really waited outside the club for me. I thought I was dreaming.” He also alleged that he spat on 6ix9ine in a now-deleted Instagram post.

Later on, Meek gave some more details about the situation, claiming that the 6ix9ine surprised him. ”We did not run into each other I was getting in my car he just popped out…. we almost was smoking on that 69 pack for the love of a viral moment ….. he tryna get something locked up no cap lol,” he wrote.

6ix9ine, of course, wanted to expose Meek for having protection “Stop letting these rappers lie to you,” he wrote on Instagram. “They too tough for security. @MeekMill running around with police. This how you expose these fake gangstas.”
