For a brief moment Tuesday night, Eternal Atake felt truly imminent.
Indeed, Lil Uzi Vert—who's been relentlessly teasing a new project basically since the day he dropped Luv Is Rage 2—made a surprise appearance at Meek Mill's show at the Hammerstein Ballroom in New York City. The fellow Philadelphians shared the stage for Meek's "Dreams and Nightmares" and Uzi's "XO Tour Llif3."
As expected, Uzi did not use this opportunity to speak anything of Eternal Atake's release or the status of his clearly playful comments on leaving music behind for good. Still, it's hard not to think something should be nearing fruition when you see an audience react like this:
Though he didn't say as much during the broadcast, Uzi was back on Instagram Live with the unreleased music snippets again while en route to the Hammerstein Ballroom on Tuesday night. "This old as ish," Uzi said when dancing along to a snippet of an indeed older unreleased cut in which Uzi boasts accurately of his unique ability to "make the whole crowd moshpit."
After playing the unreleased track, Uzi made sure to tell his audience he was still in retirement mode and was not recording new material.
"[...] Tell them to come on let me feed y'all with the old stuff,"Â he said during the broadcast. "I don't [record] music no more, but y'all can have this old stuff. I mean it's gonna be new to y'all, I mean, y'all gonna say it's new shit."
As any fellow dedicated Uzi scholar can attest, truly dissecting the circumstances surrounding the long-teased Eternal Atake has proven to be quite a challenge. Of course, that could arguably be by design, as even in Eternal Atake's absence, we have continued to discuss Eternal Atake without pause.
