Gucci Mane, understandably, had to take a step back from work on his upcoming biopic in order to ensure fans could be gifted with Evil Genius and Eskimo Boys Vol. 1 as soon as possible. Speaking with Zane Lowe Thursday ahead of the premiere of his new Lil Pump collab "Kept Back," Guwop gave fans an update on both temperature-dropping projects.

"I really just been compiling a bunch of songs, listening to beats," Gucci told Lowe of Evil Genius. "I went in with Metro, I did a bunch of songs with Southside, C.N.O.T.E. [I] just really wanted to just have a chance to almost make a mixtape worth of songs with all the producers that I like. I picked maybe, like, 60 or 70 songs. I usually just take 20 songs and put them out, but this time I really recorded a bunch of songs and then picked through them."

Recording sessions, Gucci added, continued until the last possible minute. "I just recorded until the label was like 'We really need you to turn in the album,'" he said, teasing a "dope record" with Offset and a "crazy" collab with Quavo. Kevin Gates, 21 Savage, and YoungBoy Never Broke Again are also set to appear. A release date has not been set.

With "Kept Back," the second single off Evil Genius, Guwop was drawn to the "energy" of the new generation. "I like the way they promote themselves," he said. "I'm a big fan of Pump. I think he be flowing. They make good music so I wanted to collab with them. They're dope." Stream "Kept Back" above via YouTube and/or Apple Music.
