Max B is set to be released from prison this year, at least according to a new Instagram post from French Montana.
"Wavyyyy in the joint!" Montana said in the caption of a photo of Max on Wednesday. "Can't wait till u get home this year." Aside from his mention of "this year," Montana didn't offer additional specifics on Max's release.
"He's one person that definitely I learned from," Montana toldBET last month when asked about his relationship with Max. "And I feel like he's one person that's gifted, probably the most gifted person that I've met when it comes to music. When he caught his case and the judge gave him 75 years and I was right there with him in the courthouse, he just turned around and looked at me. He took it on the chin like a man. Every time you speak to him, his spirit's so positive."
In 2016, it was announced that Max had entered a plea agreement on an aggravated manslaughter charge. The agreement significantly shortened Max's original 75-year sentence from 2009, which included since-dropped charges of first-degree murder and first-degree robbery.
In the years since the initial sentence, Max has remained a constant presence in music thanks to high-profile guest appearances on tracks with Kanye West, The Weeknd, and Montana. Archival footage of Max was used in the official video for Montana and Weeknd's Jungle Rules collab "A Lie."
