Chris Brown Arrested on Felony Battery Charge After Florida Show

The charge reportedly stems from an incident last year in which Chris Brown allegedly sucker-punched a photographer. Back in 2009, Brown pleaded guilty to felony assault of his then-girlfriend Rihanna.

Chris Brown was arrested after his performance at the Coral Sky Amphitheatre in West Palm Beach, Florida Thursday night.

According to a report from the Associated Press, published Friday morning, Brown was arrested on a felony battery charge and booked at Palm Beach County Jail before being released on bond. Though AP said there were "no details" about the assault allegations available, a separate report from Billboard tied the arrest to Brown's alleged "sucker-punching" of a photographer in Tampa in April of last year.

In an Instagram post shared late Thursday night, Brown and/or someone from his team asked "What's new?" with an eyeroll emoji:

Complex has reached out to Brown's reps for comment and will update this post accordingly.

In 2009, Brown pleaded guilty to felony assault of Rihanna. At the time, defense attorney Mark Geragos claimed his client was embracing the moment "as an opportunity to get his life back on track." Four years later, Brown was arrested and charged with felony assault after a physical altercation with a man outside the W Hotel in Washington D.C. That charge was later knocked down to a simple assault misdemeanor, for which Brown ultimately received a sentence of time served.
