Calvin Harris Grew a Beard So the Grammys Would Take Him Seriously

The beard experiment didn't go exactly as planned.

Not even the alleged powers contained within a "big ol' beard" could secure a Producer of the Year win for Calvin Harris.

On Twitter and Instagram Tuesday, Harris detailed his 2017 plan of procuring a "big ol' beard" so that he would be "taken seriously by the Grammys as a producer." The beard experiment "worked to an extent," Harris explained, by landing him a nomination in the Grammys' Producer of the Year Non-Classical category alongside No I.D. and ultimate winner Greg Kurstin, whose 2017 included notable work with Liam Gallagher and Kendrick Lamar.

Following Kurstin's win, Harris canned the beard. "Now my beard is gone, the experiment completed, and I can move forward with 2018," he said. See his full beard ode below.

The post-beard chapter of Harris' career will include a whole lot of Vegas. As announced earlier this week, Harris has extended his Omnia nightclub residency through 2020, starting Mar. 9 with the first of 25 Vegas shows this year. Last August, Harris was once again named the highest-paid DJ on the planet by the continual highest-paid rankings providers at Forbes.

For the record, Greg Kurstin does not have a beard.
