Trae tha Truth has shared his new song and video for “Hope It Don’t Change You.”

The single is dedicated to his only daughter, two-year-old Truth, who lives in Los Angeles and whom he hasn’t seen in months since he’s currently locked into a custody schedule organized via court order. The music video, which you can watch above, includes footage of Trae with his daughter.

“I believe the courts are designed to side with the mother, and it’s unfortunate because a father’s bond is just as important. Above everything else, being a father comes before everything to me and I’ll continue to fight to be in my daughter’s life just as I am active in my son’s life,” Trae said of the Othello Beats-produced song in a press release.

The release from February also specifically stated, “Trae has not seen his daughter in over 4 months, despite assigned custody schedules arranged by court order. On scheduled custody days, Trae flies from Houston to Los Angeles in hopes for his daughter to meet him at the airport to start their quality time. Inconsolably, the Houston star is disappointed at the [absence] each time. His single vocalizes the bond he yearns to have with his daughter again, which becomes Trae’s most passionate project to date.”

Trae tha Truth recently dropped album Truth Season: The United Streets of America with features from Babyface Ray, Payroll Giovanni, EastsideEggroll, and more.

Trae was also recently awarded for his humanitarianism. Last November, he was honored with Joe Biden’s presidential lifetime achievement award. Last May, he received the Change Maker Award at the 2021 Billboard Music Awards.
