Givēon has released his first song of 2022, “Lie Again.”
The accompanying music video, directed by Adrian Martinez, sees the singer roaming the streets as he sings about a romantic situation going awry. “Don’t tell me baby, I’ve heard enough,” he sings. “I told you I don’t want the truth.”
“‘Lie Again’ is a story about the internal war with oneself, battling the acceptance of the ugly-truth, and the refusal to embrace the ghosts of your lover’s past,” Givēon said in a statement. “Detailing the complexities of overlooking red flags to remain blissfully ignorant in the name of love.”
The new track follows his latest song “For Tonight,” which he released in September and is the lead single from his upcoming debut LP.
Some have pointed to the parallels between “Lie Again” and Givēon’s ex, Justine Skye’s recent song “What a Lie,” where she publicly addressed their breakup for the first time.
