Grammy Award winner Rosalía has returned with her highly-anticipated new album Motomami, which arrives after the artist dropped the project’s latest single “Hentai” earlier this week.

The follow-up to 2018’s El Mal Querer includes the previously released singles “Chicken Teriyaki,” “Saoko” and her blockbuster hit “La Fama” with The Weeknd.

“I wanted to write, in my own way, a bachata with a little story around ambition,” Rosalía said of the latter single in a statement. “Taking as a reference the lyrics of Ruben Blades or Patti Smith and the songs of Aventura, I ended up writing a story of romance with fame.”

The new album also comes after Rosalía made her Saturday Night Live debut earlier this month, performing both “La Fama” and “Chicken Teriyaki.” Right before her performance onSNL, she had also made her U.S. talk show debut during a sitdown on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon, capping off a massive month for the artist.

In a sit down with Zane Lowe, Rosalía described how personal and experimental Motomami was, and how she creatively pushed herself to be more playful.

“It has personal point of view all the time,” Rosalía said of the record. “I feel like I haven't done that in the other albums. Also, they were much more serious if that makes sense. And I think that in this one I was like ‘I really wanna find a way to allow my sense of humor to be present’...because also that's how I feel. I used to be a lot like that when I was a kid and I was like why did I forget that I'm very playful? So this has to be part of an album if I’m making an album right now and that's how I'm feeling.”
