Isaiah Rashad dropped off the disorienting visuals for “THIB,” the self-titled track from his critically acclaimed album The House Is Burning.
Directed by Heirs Entertainment & Psycho Films, the music video follows Rashad as he is awakened by an earthquake and proceeds to float and cruise around his block in the late hours of the night. Along the way, he witnesses events that may or may not be real, including a contortionist who briefly transforms into a demon. The surreal music video compliments the track’s haunting but laid-back vibe, as Rashad effortlessly raps along.
“THIB” is the latest track off The House Is Burning to be given the visual treatment. It follows in the footsteps of “Chad,” and “From The Garden” which features Lil Uzi Vert, and which Rashad recently told The Breakfast Club was partially written by his mother. “I was recording at her crib, and I did the first verse and I was like ‘I don’t know what this hook finna be," he said, “and she was like why don't you say that thing you said at first? ‘Came out bussin, came out bussin.’ I’m like ‘no,’ I’m like, ‘that’s stupid.’”
However, Rashad said that an hour later his mom came back to check on him and she heard her hook on a loop. “My mom is Michael Jordan,” he said. “If you got through my texts you’ll see a lot of shit that she just sends and I don't use but I could, she’s just, I don’t know, she's a great supporter.”
