As he prepares for the release of his highly anticipated album Championships, Meek Mill is increasing his visibility as a voice for prison and social justice reform. As someone who still faces problems with incarceration, he decided to offer his opinion on the ongoing legal woes faced by controversial rapper 6ix9ine.

During hisPower 106 interview, Meek offered his thoughts on the pending case against the rainbow-haired rapper. The "Uptown Vibes" artist stated that he previously wanted to advise him. Around the 7:25 mark of the video above, Meek says, "I used to always want to tell that kid, 'You give out that certain kind of energy. You give out that energy, and that energy actually comes back.'"

Around the 8:45 mark, Meek continues by saying that people should use this situation as a teachable moment. "And it's another message to all the other younger rappers coming up to: watch who you surround yourself around," he says. "Having 50 people around you and two people got a job, it means nothing. It can get you in a lot of trouble that everybody don't make it out [of]. Not saying that he won't make it out of his situation, but it could get you in a lot of trouble that it's hard to make it out [of]."

Meek has been on a very positive streak since his April release, utilizing his platform to speak about criminal justice reform, and recently expressing desire to work with his former adversary Drake. However, he has stated in the past that the threat of returning to prison still haunts him to this day, and it is apparent that he does not wish the same fate for 6ix9ine.

6ix9ine's trial is scheduled to begin in Sept. 2019.

While at Power 106, Meek also freestyled over Kodak Black, Travis Scott, and Offset's "ZEZE":
