Tink is ready to enter a new era.

The Chicago rapper/singer kicked off the weekend by delivering her new single “Carter,” featuring 2 Chainz. The sultry R&B track nods to the 2005 Destiny Child hit “Cater 2 U,” and boasts production by Tink’s boyfriend Hitmaka.

“Making this record was real organic,” Tink explained. “I sent Hitmaka a list of songs that I wanted to reference on my next album. ‘Cater 2 U’ by Destiny’s Child has always been a favorite of mine. We went to the studio, and I recorded my verse over just the keys. Then an hour later, Hitmaka came in and added the drums and beat around it. So we really built it up in one night. We sent it to 2 Chainz and he vibed with it a lot… And that was exciting for me! Hearing it all come together. Piece by piece.”

Coinciding with the single release is an official video directed by Daniel CZ. The visual shows Tink at a high-dollar event in which she literally “caters” to attendees while dressed like a waitress. Hitmaka also appears in the video alongside 2 Chainz.

“We started this project and we had a lot of records done in Orlando,” Hitmaka said. “I got with Bizness Boi, added the drums and we were off and running. Shortly after we went to see [producer] Troy Taylor, ‘cause I felt he had a certain aesthetic for R&B, and he’s a legend. I decided I wanted to bring back bridges and that’s exactly what we did. Then 2 Chainz, who is a personal friend, loved the record and he laced us. The rest is history. ‘Cater’ is going to be a big HIT.”

You can stream the new track now on all major platforms, and watch the video up top. “Cater” serves as the lead single off Tink’s much-anticipated follow-up to 2021’s Heat of the Moment. Her upcoming project is expected to showcase a new side of Tink, and dive even deeper into her cultivated R&B finesse.”
