Rexx Life Raj returns with new music.

Weeks after releasing the poignant video for his “Balance” track, the Berkeley-born artist has delivered  “Beauty in the Madness”—an Afrobeat-infused single featuring Wale and Fireboy DML. The song produced by P-lo, Dtb, and Ekzakt finds Raj reflecting on the lows and hardships in life and how he manages to persevere by maintaining some hope.

“‘Beauty in the Madness’ was a song concept I’d had in my head for a minute,” Raj said in a statement to Complex. “A little bit of mushroom chocolate helped me get it out into the world. With all the craziness of the past year—losing both parents—looking for silver linings was more challenging than ever before, but also never more necessary.”

He continued: “I had P-lo, Dtb, and Ekzakt pull up to the Airbnb and make the beat. It was actually P-lo’s idea to take it in the Afrobeat direction. After I laid my verse I knew it needed a crazy feature. Around that same time I was introduced to Fireboy at the Empire studio in [San Francisco]. I played it for him and he immediately hopped on. Nima then sent it over to Wale and he blessed me a verse.”
