It appears Grimes has a new flame.
According to Page Six, the 33-year-old singer is now romantically involved with military whistleblower Chelsea Manning. Sources tell the outlet the two didn’t waste any time before “getting serious” and have been living together in Austin.
News of the alleged relationship came just a day after Vanity Fairpublished a cover feature in which Grimes revealed she had welcomed a second child with Elon Musk. The Canadian-born artist said the baby—a girl named Exa Dark Sideræl Musk—was born through a surrogate back in December, less than two years after she and Musk announced the birth of their baby boy.
Grimes, who began dating Musk in 2018, told the magazine that her relationship with Musk was “fluid,” but would refer to him as a “boyfriend.” Shortly after the Vanity Fair piece was published, Grimes confirmed she and the Tesla CEO called it quits—for a second time—after the Vanity Fair interview was conducted.
It’s unclear how Grimes and Manning were introduced; however, Page Six points out they’ve had multiple vague interactions on social media. Manning rose to international prominence more than a decade ago, when she leaked a trove of military and diplomatic documents to WikiLeaks. The collection of files included a mix of classified and unclassified documents, most of which were related to the war in Afghanistan. The former U.S. Army intelligence analyst was subsequently sentenced to 35 years in prison for theft and espionage offenses. President Barack Obama commuted her sentence in 2017.
