In an interview with TMZ Live, Jermaine Dupri tried to clarify the comments he made last week, which turned him into Public Enemy No. 1 among most female rappers.

"I think it's something that has just been brewing before I was, you know, asked the question," Dupri explained. "I wasn’t aware that it has been brewing." The So So Def founder cited Cardi B’s response to support his claim that he only fanned a flame that was already lit, saying, "Cardi started her message off by basically saying, 'Now that Jermaine Dupri has said it, I'm gonna address it.' That means to me, somebody else had already said it to her."

"I have seen a lot of people sayin' 'Nowadays, female rappers only talk about they pussy and shit. And now that Jermaine Dupri bring it up, now I'm gonna say something about it, right," Cardi said at the time, via IG. "First of all, I rap about my pussy because she's my best friend, you know what I'm sayin'? And second of all, it seems like that's what people wanna hear. I ain't even gonna front, because let me tell you something: When I did 'Be Careful,' people was talking mad shit in the beginning, like, 'What the fuck is this? This is not what I expected. I expected this, I expected that.' So it's like, if that's what people ain't tryna hear, then, alright, I'mma start rapping about my pussy again."

Ari Lennox and Bhad Bhabie also responded to Dupri's comments. "Jermaine Dupri can suck my dick," Bhabie wrote on IG. "Been like 10 years since bow wow. Sit down grandpa."

Dupri went on to claim that the "strippers rapping" remark wasn't meant to be about every female rapper, but just a response to the ones mentioned in the People TV interview: Megan Thee StallionNicki Minaj, and Cardi B. He also said that wasn't trying to diss anyone.
