Future’s latest album I Never Liked You is his eighth No. 1 on the Billboard 200 chart, per Billboard.
I Never Liked You earned 222,000 album equivalent units, of which 214,000 consisted of streaming units, equaling 283.75 million on-demand streams of the set’s tracks. The remaining units were split between 6,500 coming from album sales and 1,500 from TEA units. It also outperformed early projections, which were sitting between 175,000 to 200,000 units.
Future’s latest album becomes his 15th project to appear in the top 10 of the Billboard 200, but it represents the largest week for a solo effort. I Never Liked You also had the biggest week for an R&B/hip-hop album since Drake’s Certified Lover Boy in Sept. 2021.
Meanwhile, The Weeknd’s Dawn FM soared from 35th to No. 2 off the strength of the vinyl LP, cassette and deluxe boxed sets release. Dawn FM amassed 57,000 album equivalent units, a 241 percent increase from the previous week. It moved almost 34,000 copies on vinyl, which was the largest sales week for an R&B album on vinyl since tracking began in 1991.
Dangerous: The Double Album, the second studio album from Morgan Wallen, took a slight dip from No. 2 to No. 3 with 50,000 units earned.
It remains to be seen if Future’s “Wait for U” will be able to dethrone Harry Styles’ “As It Was” atop the Billboard Hot 100. Earlier this week, Future dropped the visuals for the Drake and Tems-assisted track where he plays a sword-wielding knight. He also released the deluxe edition of I Never Liked You, featuring appearances by Lil Baby, 42 Dugg, Lil Durk, and more.
“I just really wanted to just keep feeding the streets, but at the same time, I already had picked the album and it was just like, I still had more songs that I wanted to put on the album, but on them on the 16 on the first part,” Future said of releasing a deluxe edition in his Apple Music 1 interview. “So people just that first and then come back.”
