Britney Spears and boyfriend Sam Asghari are engaged. “I can’t f*cking believe it,” Spears captioned an Instagram post in which the singer shows off her ring.
According to People, the two met in 2016 while on the set of her “Slumber Party” music video and started dating soon after. In a March interview with Forbes, Asghari spoke about his desire to take the next step in his career and relationship with Spears.
“I want to take my career to the next step when it comes to acting,” he said. “I want to take my relationship to the next step, as well. I don’t mind becoming a father. I want to be a young dad.” When Spears testified in court three months ago as she sought to terminate her 13-year conservatorship, the singer said she not only wants to get married, but wishes to have a child, but cannot due to the IUD required by her conservators.
The engagement announcement comes after Asghari claimed his Instagram account was hacked earlier this month when what appeared to be an engagement ring popped up on his Stories. The ring featured the word “lioness,” his nickname for her, on the inside.
“Account got hacked and was photoshopped — calm down everyone,” Asghari later explained on his Stories, despite the fact that TMZ spotted him earlier this month checking out diamond rings at Cartier in Beverly Hills.
