In a revealing new interview with BillboardSelena Gomez opens up about cancelling her tour in 2013 and subsequent hiatus from music. "I was diagnosed with lupus, and I’ve been through chemotherapy," she said. "That’s what my break was really about. I could’ve had a stroke." If you don't remember, Gomez encountered endless accusations of substance abuse in 2014 when she checked into a facility in 2014.  "I wanted so badly to say, ‘You guys have no idea. I’m in chemotherapy. You’re assholes.' I locked myself away until I was confident and comfortable again."

Selena's lupus is in now in remission. "I've been through stuff and I think that it's been able to test me as a person," she said.
